Who is It For?

Anyone responsible for the day to day running of electric steam boilers – large and small and those involved in the planning or upgrading of the boiler.

What is it about?

This practical course provides an understanding of the electric boiler, operation and outline trends in the management and control of boiler plant in order to achieve high levels of efficiency and safety with smooth operation.

Course Objectives:

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  • Know the types of daily/weekly tests recommended, including evaporation and water tests
  • Understand elements of feedwater treatment, deaeration and storage
  • Understand boiler water level control, alarms and evaporation tests
  • Understand blowdown controls, vessels and pits
  • Appreciate the benefits of heat recovery systems and energy efficiency fundamentals
  • Understand the requirements of efficient best practice including legislation and in particular BG01 (Guidance on safe operation of steam boilers) / (BG13 Guidance on safe Operation of
  • Electrically Powered Steam Boilers)
  • Understand start up and shut down procedures
  • Understand how electric boilers produce steam and how this can affect other areas of the steam plant, including load
