Build a clear, confident path to net-zero

No matter where you are on your sustainability journey, our experts work closely with your team to help you move forward; whether that’s unlocking hidden efficiencies, gaining real‑time visibility and control, or eliminating carbon emissions from your thermal energy systems.

Our global engineering teams work with you to diagnose system issues and identify evidence‑based optimisation opportunities that deliver quick, measurable improvements.

Through ongoing management and structured decarbonisation planning, we support long‑term efficiency needs and provide technically robust options for a planned transition to cleaner, lower‑carbon technologies.

Our Customer Sustainability Journey Framework

Before we start, we diagnose your system, building a clear understanding of how your steam and thermal energy systems are performing, where energy is being lost, and which risks or constraints are limiting efficiency and reliability.

Through an initial ‘Walk the Plant’ session by one of our engineers, and with follow up targeted audits, site assessments, and data led analysis, we establish a robust baseline across your system - from generation through to point of use. This diagnosis exposes hidden inefficiencies and cost drivers, enabling informed decisions, prioritised actions, and a clear roadmap for optimisation, smarter system management, and ultimately decarbonisation.

Our Customer Sustainability Journey framework focuses on three pivotal stages: optimisation, effective system management, and decarbonisation of steam generation through renewable energy sources. By integrating these three stages, we pave the way for a more stable and efficient future.

TargetZero - transformative low-emission technology solutions

Decarbonising thermal energy is one of the most powerful steps industrial organisations can take on the journey to net‑zero. Steam remains the most efficient and flexible heat‑transfer medium available, but the way we generate and manage it must evolve. The TargetZero portfolio, part of our Customer Sustainability Journey (CSJ) framework, is designed to help you do exactly that—providing a suite of technologies that enable cleaner, more efficient and future‑ready steam and thermal energy systems.

Introducing the TargetZero portfolio

TargetZero brings together transformative technologies—each designed to help industrial sites cut emissions, improve efficiency, and build long‑term resilience in a decarbonising world.

Journey to net-zero

SteamVolt: Zero‑emission electric steam generation at scale

SteamVolt delivers high‑capacity steam generation using proven medium‑voltage electric heating technology, operating at up to 6.6 kV.

With power outputs up to 11MWe (from a single bundle) and steam capabilities up to 15 t/h, SteamVolt allows organisations to replace or supplement fossil‑fired boilers with a fully electric, zero‑emission alternative.

Medium voltage technology enabling high power output, high system efficiency and reduced OpEx. Operating at higher voltage allows more power to be delivered at lower current, reducing electrical losses and infrastructure demands. This can mean smaller cabling and, in some cases, no need for transformers—cutting both capital expenditure and lifetime operating costs.

Key benefits

  • Zero‑emission steam generation (when powered by renewable electricity)
  • Robust, proven, MV Resistive heating element technology, engineered for industrial environments by Chromalox, a Spirax Group company
  • Easy integration with existing steam infrastructure for faster decarbonisation
  • High efficiency (>99%)
  • Installation cost savings
  • Reduced maintenance and operational costs

SteamBattery: flexible thermal energy storage for carbon free steam

SteamBattery is a unique thermal energy storage and on‑demand steam generation system that converts electricity into stored hot water, releasing it later as flash steam whenever required. This solves a critical challenge: aligning variable renewable energy with continuous or fluctuating steam demand.

Key benefits

  • Zero‑carbon steam at the point of use (when powered by renewable electricity)
  • Allows retention of existing steam infrastructure, reducing time, cost and disruption
  • Flexible integration and modular scaling
  • OPEX savings by storing off-peak electricity as thermal energy
  • Meet peak demands without requiring oversized boilers and/or infrastructure

High‑temperature heat pumps: recover, reuse and reduce

High‑temperature heat pumps enable industrial sites to capture and reuse waste heat—reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering emissions from thermal processes.

Producing temperatures up to 175°C (and soon 200°C), they make it possible to electrify thermal loads previously considered too demanding for heat pump technology.

Key benefits

  • Recover and reuse waste heat to improve overall thermal efficiency
  • Reduce reliance on fossil fuels for process heating across key industries
  • Deliver high outlet temperatures suitable for demanding industrial applications
  • Integrate seamlessly with existing steam systems for staged, low‑risk decarbonisation

HPHP cut

Personal care manufacturing: 70% water reduction

Cotopaxi’s audit uncovered excessive water use caused by a valve left open for two years. With new water metering and Strata in place, the issue was resolved and consumption dropped sharply.
Result: 750,000 gallons saved per day, £23.6K in pumping costs avoided annually.

Food manufacturing: £24K annual saving via machine shutdown optimisation

Strata data revealed that heat recovery systems were left running during shutdowns. Adjusting control logic to fully power down equipment eliminated wasted energy.
Result: £24K annual electricity savings.

Food manufacturing: £600K annual saving via steam optimisation

By throttling steam supply to fryers and steamers and installing additional metering, the manufacturer optimised fuel use without affecting product quality.
Result: 4,767 GJ/month fuel reduction, ~£600K annual savings.

Consumer goods processing: £11.5K annual saving via valve repair

Steam metering identified faulty isolation valves leaking steam during downtime. Replacing the valves stopped losses and improved control.
Result: £11.5K in annual savings.

Food processing: £65K annual saving via water leak detection

Strata alarms flagged a sudden spike in water consumption. Repairs to leaks, bypass valves and solenoid seals quickly restored normal use.
Result: 8.76 million gallons saved annually, £65K cost reduction.
