  • Cost: £760 (+VAT). Plus KIWA registration and assessment fees (v5.3 KIWA fees – July 2018) + VAT (£485 for Operators / shell boilers or £535 for Managers / shell boilers. Other fees may also be applicable, we will advise on booking)[2]

who is it for?

Qualified boiler operators and boiler plant managers/supervisors who have taken the BOAS course and are already entitled to use the designatory letters "Cert IBO" and "Dip BOM" respectively.

For new/inexperienced boiler operators, see D6 course. For boiler operators and managers wishing to obtain a BOAS qualification, see D6A course.

What is it about?

This is a renewal course for boiler operators and managers/supervisors who are already accredited within the BOAS. The renewal course should be taken on the 5th anniversary of gaining the BOAS award and 5 yearly thereafter [1].

Course Objectives

  • To train and prepare candidates for the BOAS accreditation
  • To promote safety and energy efficiency in the boiler house with due regard to environmental aspects and legal requirements

The syllabus will contain information on the following topics

  • Steam fundamentals
  • Fuel types
  • Combustion
  • Feedwater
  • Boiler controls and instrumentation
  • Operation of boilers
  • Safety & legal requirements
  • Boiler efficiency




Essential: You must already hold the BOAS qualification. Supply of paperwork

Recommended: Completion of pre-reading (supplied by ourselves)


This course starts at 9:00am on the first day and finishes at 4:00pm on the second day.
