Assistant Controller

 Location: Concord, ON

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the month-end process and oversee AP, AR and GL
  • Responsible for monthly account reconciliations, including inter-company and bank reconciliations
  • Responsible for monthly amortization of fixed assets and record depreciation
  • Responsible for Payroll: processing and finalizing pay cycles/managing benefits & deductions/ vacation pay/ government remittances/ year end processes, up to and including T4’s
  • Ensure Payroll is interfaced to the GL monthly and is accounted for reporting purposes versus budget and forecast, as well as identifying and following through on any gaps
  • Review GST/HST filings and reporting for tax compliance
  • Assist VP of Finance with month end and year end processes
  • Assist VP of Finance with finalizing Financial Statements
  • Actively and effectively train and inspire accounting team with the goal to achieve optimal output and continuous improvement
  • Other tasks, projects and reporting requirements as assigned

Skills & Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in accounting
  • CPA finalist or CPA
  • Minimum 5-8 years full-cycle accounting experience
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, knowledge of pivot tables, logic statements
  • Experience working with BI tools is an asset
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Great attention to detail and problem-solving ability
  • Versatile and adaptable
