Title: Applications Engineer I
Role: Position Summary:Provides technical and commercial support to Spirax Sarco (SSI) customers including distributors, outside Sales team including Independent Manufacturers’ Representatives, and internal support groups (Engineered Systems Divison, Energy Services Group and Inside Sales). As part of the company’s succession plan, the candidate must possess the skill set and desire necessary to progress into outside sales. The candidate must be willing to relocate anywhere in the USA after demonstrating sufficient technical and commercial ability.

• BS degree in Engineering (ME/EE preferred) or Marketing/Sales with (three to five) years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, Lotus Notes; ability to quickly learn industry specific software.
• 0-2 years sales experience, preferably in the industrial market.

Responsibilities: Essential Functions/Responsibilities:These essential functions indicate the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent. • Provides timely and superior technical support for SSI products upon delivery to the customer. Supports customers via the telephone, fax and/or internet. May assist in providing customer and internal training. Provides technical support to internal and external sales staff.
• Facilitates training to SSI customers and sales representatives in technical applications and sizing and selection of equipment.
• Determines product sizing and selection for quotation requests based on customer/sales input.
• Prepares design requests and assembly/hook up sketches.
• Assists in closing business with the Account Executive by providing technical aid and support during various stages of the sales cycle.
• Performs product demonstrations, answers inquiries, and assures that prospective customers are shown the full capabilities and benefits of the products.
• Assists the sales representative with on-site customer visits for product testing, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Assists with on-site steam system audits and steam trap surveys in addition to providing product support.
• Reviews, revises and writes technical literature, especially technical information sheets, as needed.
• Displays knowledge of all related safety and security regulations. Follows appropriate safety and/or security procedures on the job.
• Attends and participates in safety events and team meetings as scheduled.
• Must demonstrate sound technical understanding of core products and applications before moving to the Field Sales department.
• Must demonstrate basic understanding of customer and product classifications before moving to the Field Sales department.

General:Accountable and responsible for all safety and environmental compliance as it relates to the position. Demonstrates knowledge of general safety, security, and environmental regulations.
