Separators

Water is a barrier to heat transfer in steam systems. It can cause erosion, pipework scaling and corrosion., and also affect the operation of valves and flowmeters.

Careful drainage and trapping can remove most of the water from a steam system but will not deal with droplets in suspension.

A separator incorporates a series of baffles which direct all moisture out of the steam flow to an outlet at the base.
