True global service for our customers

Spirax Sarco Italy asked our Danish office to investigate a mysterious 'tapping' sound in the passenger area of a large cruise liner which happened to be visiting their waters.

Key points

  • Our service engineer, accompanied by the ship's chief engineer, located the source of the tapping as a heat exchanger, where an APT14 condensate pump had been installed for condensate drainage purposes.
  • Problem: It transpired that a high & low pressure condensate were both draining to the same condensate line. Also, the motive steam supply to the APT14 condensate pump was arriving via a strainer, which was incorrectly installed (with screen downwards).
  • The solution was to separate the high & low pressure condensate lines, to take the motive steam directly from the high pressure steam supply, thus ensuring a clean supply, and to install the strainer correctly.
  • This response highlights Spirax Sarco's global service commitment to its customers offering knowledge, service & products worldwide.
  • We always emphasize our superb global service to customers who export their systems in the way that cruise companies do.
