TDS Control

Boiler feedwater contains dissolved solids (TDS or total dissolved solids) whose concentration in the boiler increases during evaporation.

This increase must be controlled to prevent foaming, carryover and contamination of steam and the final product.

  • This control is most efficiently carried out using an automatic system which periodically drains off some of the concentrated boiler water and replaces it with relatively low TDS feedwater.
  • Spirax Sarco offers four systems matched to different boiler types and blowdown requirements.
